Pula Golf represents perfectly Mallorca’s essence, history, architecture, gastronomy and that warm way of welcoming their visitors. When you cross the walls of Pula Golf you enter a modernised past and at the same time you feel embraced, protected and cared for by the great family that runs it. In Pula, the time stops to allow you to meet yourself whilst you blend with nature. Pula Golf is art, it is knowledge, but most of all, it is Golf. Personalities such as Jose Mª Olazabal, when he was redesigning its holes, winners of the Grand Slam such as Darren Clarke, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Bernhard Langer and Suzann Pettersen have walked among its holes.

Pula Golf history goes back to 1995. That year Romeo Sala’s dream of turning his family legacy into a paradise for golfers came true. The ancient signorial house, turned into rooms and suites nowadays, is an example of the XVI century houses from Mallorca, where the fireplace in the kitchen used to be the place for family gatherings. The thick stone walls, the steep stairs and the terraces that blend with the garden attest for the respect for the orography of the land in the island’s constructions.

The small church was built in front of the house in 1803 and it is an exclusive place for intimate celebrations, most of all weddings, nowadays. The courtyard between both buildings, with a fountain, olive trees and beautiful gardens is a dreamful scenery to sit and enjoy reading a book or to celebrate a smart cocktail party.

The swimming pool and the sauna are the modern counterpoint that give the guests present-day amenities while keeping the autochthonous character of the place.

The second place is a recent construction, even though it keeps the rustic and mediterranean style of the rest of the finca. It has Suites of different sizes and categories, apartments, the Club House, the spa and the restaurant S’Era, another of the jewels of the club. Its magnificent terrace, suspended over hole 18 of the course, a par three with a green very well protected by big bunkers, assures great fun the whole day until your attention is caught by the wonderful spectacle of the nature that the sunset is. It is right on that terrace where you can enjoy a tasty breakfast with fruits and vegetables from their own orchard, artisanal bread and pastry, cereals, cold meat and warm dishes, all of it arranged in a comfortable and appetizing way.

The breakfast can become a great experience if you have the privilege of meeting the genius that imagined this fascinating place one day. Romeo is a living history of golf and of the island. Sat next to him you could spend hours, days and weeks, listening to wonderful anecdotes about the visit of great golfers to Pula Golf or taking notes about his excellent recommendations of the island, that he now shares from the knowledge and tranquillity of his retirement. A few years ago, his son Arnau took up the baton, managing the family legacy with professionalism and pride.

The course

The Driving Range is perfectly integrated in the landscape of the whole Pula Golf. Provided with the Trackman system it has an approach area and another for putting which is on the way from the club house to the tee one. Its strategical location makes it ideal for clinics because it has a roofed area also.

If anything should be highlighted it is the technical characteristic of this course that combine long and hard holes with some to recover. The par threes stand out for being hard and demanding. The greens are quite small and alive, and it is necessary, when you arrive to each exit tee, to think of a strategy to face the hole, because the driver is not always the best option. In the redesign of the course in 2005, Olazabal had the unconditional support of Romeo, who along the years was buying all the surrounding farms with the objective of adding the course with the metres necessary to make it championship.

Since then, Pula Golf has been the setting of great tournaments such as the PGA European Tour Championships and the Mallorca Classic, even though it stands out specially for having held the PGA European Tour 8 times. It has also been holding the Pro-Am Fundacion Olazabal-Nadal for six years. Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, Francesco Molinari, Miguel Angel Jiménez and Sergio García have been battling its holes also. It even served Darren Clarke to break a negative streak in his golf. He won the British Open two months after having won the Iberdrola Open at Pula Golf in 2011.

S’Era

The Pula’s restaurant S’Era is a meeting point for lovers of the good gastronomy, tourist and locals. It is decorated, in keeping with the ambiences, with a smart and rustic style and it is committed to the mediterranean cuisine. It has its own orchard with 6000 m2 that produces fresh and organic ingredients that in the kitchen transform into tasty and original dishes.

The local Chef, Marga Brunet, who has a great experience in kitchens such as the Roca’s Brothers, is at the front of the kitchen. She is an advocate of Mallorca’s gastronomy. Young but with a vast experience, she turns fresh and high-quality ingredients into unique and surprising dishes.
