The Hyperbaric Centre opened in July 2014. At the time very few in Spain had heard about this kind of medicine based on breathing pure high pressured oxygen. After seven years, more than one thousand five hundred patients have already improved their health thanks to the benefits of the oxygen. Some of the more sought-after treatments are for a better quality of life, wellness and rejuvenation, whereas some patients with conditions such as autism, fibromyalgia and sport lesion have also benefited from this treatment. The Estepona\u2019s centre, along with the one in Tel Aviv, is revered in Europe, that is the reason why they receive patients from all across northern Europe.<\/b><\/p>\n

All the advantages of the use of hyperbaric medicine are still unknown nowadays. New benefits are discovered or proven within each new study. Best of all is that this is a treatment with no side effects and with almost no contraindication. This is why it has more followers every day. For example, elite athletes are regular users of the hyperbaric oxygen: \u201cWe have mainly three lines in the field of sports medicine. One of them is to help with the physical conditioning during their training phase. The second is on what is called overtraining, when we make an over effort and the third one, the most frequent, is to treat lesions. In every lesion, related or not to sports, the hyperbaric oxygen accelerates the recovery process\u201d. Rafael Sanchez, the medic responsible for the centre, explains.<\/p>\n

Some of the pathologies treated with the oxygen are those to do with sleep, stress and anxiety as well as the lack of mental clarity. The pain caused by arthrosis, arthritis or even fibromyalgia is reduced after the hyperbaric treatment. Furthermore, everything suggests that it triggers benefits towards anti-aging: \u201cThere is a recent study by the Tel Aviv University, in Israel, that is very promising. Two changes appear in the study of the chromosomes that can be very important in the aging process\u201d. Rafael mentions.<\/p>\n

Another use of the hyperbaric oxygen is on the treatment of neuronal diseases. Each summer, many Nordic parents bring their children to Estepona with the hope of seeing an improvement. On the other side, the improvement in cases of diabetic foot and skin ulcers is visible within just a few sessions.<\/p>\n
