Granada, a land with a long and ancient history, has a rich artistic and cultural heritage left behind by the Muslims and Christians. The wide variety of artistic styles, the high quality of the musical and theatrical legacy, and the rich traditions that define its people, give culture an important place in the province being one of its biggest attractions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Granada is a city that : your sense of sight with its impressive monuments such as the Alhambra<\/b>, \"\"the Cathedral and the stunning landscapes seen from the viewpoint of San Nicol\u00e1s; your sense of smell with its jasmine blossom scented streets in the Albaic\u00edn district<\/b>; your sense of hearing with the flamenco celebrations of the Sacromonte<\/b>; your sense of touch when you cast your hand over the ancient stones of the buildings; your sense of taste when you try the delicious local dishes<\/b>. Granada is a city of kings, which has to be experienced.<\/p>\n

In addition to the provincial capital and the region of Granada, there are a number of towns historically linked to the city of the Alhambra. These towns share its rich heritage and are located in the town\u2019s so-called green belt, surrounded by carefully tended gardens and green spaces<\/b>. Some municipalities have played a crucial role in world history and culture,<\/b> such as Santa Fe, a town created by the Catholic Kings to besiege Granada and where the Capitulations for the discovery of the Americas<\/b> were signed by Christopher Columbus. Another example is Fuente Vaqueros, the birthplace of Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca<\/b>, one of the most important Spanish poets and playwrights.<\/p>\n

Sierra Nevada<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sierra Nevada district is located next to the districts of Alpujarra and El Marquesado del Zenete. It is home to the highest mountain range within the Iberian Peninsula. From the top of the Veleta and the Mulhac\u00e9n peaks you can see the Mediterranean Sea. It is a natural alpine paradise in the heart of Andaluc\u00eda with mild summers and cold winters. Between its snow-covered peaks, its rivers and forests, there are many charming villages tucked away between the monumental city of Granada and the imposing mountain ranges of the Sierra Nevada.<\/p>\n

Costa C\u00e1lida<\/strong><\/p>\n

Granada\u2019s coastal area has dozens of beaches and small coves with crystal-clear water, 320 sunny days a year and an average temperature of 20 degrees. \"\"These are the basic facts that sum up the 73 kilometres of tropical coastline in the province of Granada, which gets its name from the exceptionally good weather it enjoys all year round.<\/b> Two centuries ago, this was the only place in Europe where subtropical fruits such as mangos, cherimoyas, avocados and papayas could be grown<\/b>. These are fruits that evoke exotic flavours and places but, in fact, they are grown in Europe, in one of the most privileged corners of Andaluc\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Guadix y El Marquesado<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Guadix and El Marquesado district is located in the eastern part of the province of Granada. It is made up of the town Guadix and its surrounding villages, all rich in archaeological and historical attractions<\/b>. The landscape is one of contrasts \u2013 it has hilly slopes that reach out towards the foot Sierra Nevada as well as an impressive lunar landscape in the Montes Orientales. A number of rivers wind their way between the reddish shades of the Hoya de Guadix and the green valleys.\"\"<\/p>\n

The particular terrain of the Hoya de Guadix and the valleys of the R\u00edo Fardes and R\u00edo Gor have given rise to a unique kind of dwelling \u2013 cave dwellings<\/b>. As they are dug out from underground and provide insulation, they ensure that the temperature remains constant all year round. They are warm in winter and cool in summer, they are rustic and welcoming with their whitewashed walls. Their simplicity will make you fall in love with them and they make a great place to stay for a holiday.<\/p>\n

Granada Club de Golf<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in the countryside eight kilometres from Granada<\/b><\/a>, Granada Club de Golf<\/b> opened in 1986 and designed by Ibergolf under the guidance of the engineers Ram\u00f3n Espinosa and Emilio Mena it was the first full length facility in the province. Mainly flat and 2,100 metres above sea level it is not an especially difficult or long course, just 6,037metres off the back tees.\"\"<\/p>\n

The 15th, 16th and 17th holes are bordered by three lakes which provide water to the automatic irrigation system. The central point of the course which is also the highest elevation will, in the near future, house a four star hotel and clubhouse. Granada Club de Golf<\/b> is a member\u00b4 club which welcomes visitors all year round and is accessed through the village of Las Gabias. Improved communications now put Granada Club de Golf<\/b> just 30 Km. away from the Costa Tropical<\/b> and ninety minutes of Costa del Sol<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Los Moriscos Golf<\/strong><\/p>\n

Los Moriscos<\/b> is an all-round sports and leisure complex sited next to the sea yet within easy reach of the Sierra Nevada<\/b> ski resort. Designed by Ibergolf and Manuel Pi\u00f1ero<\/b> the course opened in 1974 and is mainly flat.\"\"<\/p>\n

However, the large greens, two lakes, palm trees, sugar cane and an abundance of exotic fruit plantations, including the papaya and mango, ensure that playing golf here is interesting, and with all these natural hazards challenging too.<\/p>\n
