Chiara Tamburlini secured her third win of the season after storming to a four-stroke victory at the Wistron Ladies Open \u2013 Taiwan at Sunrise Golf and Country Club. The Swiss star has been in a rich vein of form of late on the Ladies European Tour (LET) having won her second title of the year at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France just two weeks ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n
Tamburlini then captained her Team to victory at last week\u2019s Aramco Team Series presented by PIF \u2013 Shenzhen before finishing in a share of third place in the Individual event.<\/p>\n
Having been in a share of the lead from the start of the Wistron Ladies Open, the 24-year-old produced rounds of 66-73-68-69 to win with a score of 12-under-par and capture her third LET title in her rookie season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an incredible feeling,\u201d said Tamburlini. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long week and to see the video of them engraving my name on the trophy is an incredible feeling. I\u2019m just so proud to be in this situation right now.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt feels really good to have won this tournament, it\u2019s been a long couple of weeks and to be ending this stretch with a victory like this feels incredible right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tamburlini began the day with a four-shot lead and made a birdie on her first hole at Sunrise Golf and Country Club.<\/p>\n
After flying the green on the par-five sixth, she made up-and-down to save par, but she then ran into trouble off the tee on the seventh and got lucky with her second shot staying dry coming away with a bogey.<\/p>\n
However, the rookie soon started making birdies again rolling in three on the trot on holes 11, 12 and 13 to seal a final round of 69 (-3) and win number three on the LET.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hit one or two bad shots, but otherwise it was still decent,\u201d Tamburlini continued. \u201cI didn\u2019t make too many putts. I had two bad holes and Emma [Spitz] had a great front nine, so we ended up being really close at the turn.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been playing better on the back nine all week and I\u2019ve been telling myself that there were still plenty of holes left to go. I made birdies on 11, 12 and 13 which really helped. The par-save on 14 was definitely quite big.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew making par from then would probably be enough. I still tried to make birdies, but I wasn\u2019t being overly aggressive in the last couple of holes. I really like the back nine it seems like; I have been rolling in some good putts on the back nine again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Yu-Sang Hou<\/strong> carded a bogey-free 68 (-4) to finish in outright second place on eight-under-par and also end the tournament as the best Taiwanese player.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a little bit of lack of luck, a lot of putts just didn\u2019t fall for me,\u201d said Hou. \u201cOverall, it is a pleasure to play back in Taiwan and it\u2019s such a great course that I grew up with.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a really awesome tournament for Chiara, for her to get her third win of the season is incredible. It\u2019s a little hard when you\u2019re not holding the trophy in your home country, but overall, I want to thank everyone who supported me along the way and everyone who came out to watch us.\u201d<\/p>\n
France\u2019s Perrine Delacour produced a final round of 67 (-5) which included an eagle, six birdies and three bogeys to finish in third place on seven-under-par.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was good today,\u201d said the Frenchwoman. \u201cI holed out on number six for eagle and took that momentum onto the back nine and carried it over. I made great birdies on 13, 14, 15.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew I needed to make a really good finish to try and get close to Chiara, but I\u2019m pretty happy with the way I played all week. It\u2019s been quite nice to play in Taiwan, besides the fact it was pretty hot today, but it reminds me of Florida so I\u2019m getting used to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spain\u2019s Maria Hernandez<\/a>,<\/strong> Italy\u2019s Virginia Elena Carta, France\u2019s Nastasia Nadaud and South Africa\u2019s Nicole Garcia ended the week in a share of fourth place on six-under-par.<\/p>\n
Four players were one shot further back with Marta Martin, Pei-Ying Tsai, Trichat Cheenglab and Emma Spitz all on five-under-par in T8.<\/p>\n
In the Order of Merit,<\/strong><\/a> following her victory Tamburlini has extended her advantage at the top of the standings even further and now has 2,623.44 points to her name, meanwhile she has a 991.98-point lead over Belgium\u2019s Manon De Roey who is in second place.<\/p>\n
The LET now has a one-week break before the Hero Women\u2019s Indian Open takes place at DLF Golf and Country Club between 24-27 October.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
