Although Trichat Cheenglab<\/strong> remains atop the leaderboard at 15 under par<\/strong>, the script changed dramatically compared to Friday, when the Thai player looked untouchable. Her even-par round, combined with a superb six-under<\/strong> from France\u2019s Perrine Delacour<\/strong> \u2014now at 12 under<\/strong>\u2014 has reopened the title race and set up a thrilling final day. Behind them, Nastasia Nadaud (-10)<\/strong> and a chasing pack led by Kirsten Rudgeley<\/strong> and Smilla Soenderby<\/strong> (both -9<\/strong>) keep the suspense high.<\/p>\n

Cheenglab began Saturday with the confidence boost of her record-setting nine-under<\/strong> performance the previous day. But she delivered a far more restrained round this time. After six opening pars, she picked up birdies on the 7th and 9th to reach -17<\/strong>, only to see her momentum halted by a string of missed putts on the back nine \u2014including a surprising slip at the 17th from barely half a meter. Even so, her consistency remains impressive: she had played two full rounds without a bogey until the 15th today, showing maturity beyond her r\u00e9sum\u00e9 in the LET, where she owns just one victory. \u201cMaybe it wasn\u2019t the round Thai fans expected, but I\u2019ll give my best tomorrow. I want to shoot five under; I think that will be enough,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

While the leader cooled, Carlota Ciganda<\/strong> delivered her best performance of the week, earning the warm applause of the M\u00e1laga crowd. The Spaniard, who started the day at -3<\/strong> and had yet to find the spark that carried her to the 2024 title, displayed her most solid golf of the tournament on the front nine: three straight birdies on 3, 4 and 5, another on 7, and a clear determination not to give up early. She added a fifth birdie on the 10th, though her putting touch faded from the 13th onward, slowing her charge. Still, at -7 total<\/strong>, she remains one of the top Spanish contenders. \u201cI played very well from tee to green. Winning is almost impossible unless something very unusual happens up front, but tomorrow I\u2019ll go all in,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Another Spanish reference, Azahara Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, also produced a steady Saturday to move to -6<\/strong>. The M\u00e1laga native showed flashes of brilliance with birdies on the 4th, 9th, 16th and 18th. Despite some ups and downs with the putter, she once again proved her reliability at Real Guadalhorce Golf Club. \u201cI feel calm, hitting the ball well. I just want to keep enjoying the weekend,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

Spanish hopes remain alive across the board. At -5<\/strong>, Nuria Iturrioz<\/strong> and Teresa Toscano<\/strong> still have realistic top-10 chances. Amateur Andrea Revuelta<\/strong>, also on -5<\/strong> and one of the crowd favorites, fought bravely despite a double bogey on the 12th. \u201cI\u2019m playing very well, even if today\u2019s score doesn\u2019t fully show it,\u201d she said. Ana Pel\u00e1ez<\/strong>, at -4<\/strong>, continued to impress in her hometown and is close to securing her full LET card for next season.<\/p>\n

Internationally, the battle for the Order of Merit<\/strong><\/a> remains wide open: Shannon Tan<\/strong> and Mimi Rhodes<\/strong>, tied in sixth at -8<\/strong>, keep their duel alive ahead of what promises to be a dramatic finish.<\/p>\n
