The South Korean star defeated Brooke Henderson on the first playoff hole to win the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship and secure her second consecutive Major title following her victory at the KPMG Women\u2019s PGA Championship.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Haeran Ryu continues to write one of the most remarkable stories in women\u2019s golf. The South Korean claimed the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship<\/strong> after defeating Canada’s Brooke Henderson on the first playoff hole, securing her second consecutive Major title just two weeks after winning the KPMG Women\u2019s PGA Championship.<\/p>\n

The victory at Evian Resort Golf Club<\/strong> carried special significance for Ryu, who also won the Amundi Evian Juniors Cup<\/strong> at the same venue in 2015.<\/p>\n

“It feels like a dream. Three weeks ago I didn\u2019t have a Major title, and now I have two in a row. I\u2019m incredibly happy and still can\u2019t quite believe it,” said the champion.<\/p>\n

“I have wonderful memories of this place from when I was 14 years old and won here with Team Korea. I always dreamed of winning the Evian Championship because this course means so much to me and is truly beautiful.”<\/p>\n

A dramatic finish to seal the title<\/h3>\n

Ryu started the final round with a three-shot lead after recording a historic 60 (-11)<\/strong> on Saturday, the lowest round ever recorded in a women\u2019s Major.<\/p>\n

She carded an even-par round with her only bogey coming at the eighth hole before producing a clutch birdie at the 18th to reach 19-under-par<\/strong> and force a playoff with Henderson.<\/p>\n

Back on the 18th for the playoff, the Korean found the fairway off the tee, reached the green in two and holed a four-foot birdie putt to secure the title.<\/p>\n

“Today was really tough because none of my putts seemed to drop. I only made one birdie on the last hole and, thankfully, the only putt I truly needed to make was the one in the playoff,” she explained.<\/p>\n

“I played the 18th exactly the same way as I had during the round because I had already made birdie there. That gave me confidence heading into the playoff. I knew how important that final putt was, I was very nervous, but when it dropped it was an incredible feeling.”<\/p>\n

With this victory, Ryu adds her name to one of the most prestigious trophies in women\u2019s golf.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a dream come true. Some of the greatest names in golf are on this trophy and now my name is there too. I\u2019ve received so many congratulatory messages. Thanks to my team, my friends and my sponsors. I feel very lucky.”<\/p>\n

Brooke Henderson stages a brilliant comeback to force the playoff<\/h3>\n

Canada\u2019s Brooke Henderson<\/strong>, the 2022 Amundi Evian Championship winner, produced an outstanding weekend with back-to-back rounds of 64 (-7)<\/strong> to also finish at 19-under-par.<\/p>\n

Her final round included three eagles, one of them a spectacular hole-in-one on the par-3 eighth. Henderson birdied the 15th and 16th, dropped a shot at the 17th, then responded with an eagle at the 18th to match Ryu and send the tournament into a playoff.<\/p>\n

On the first extra hole, her tee shot drifted left, forcing her to play for par, while Ryu capitalised with a birdie to secure the championship.<\/p>\n

“I played some fantastic golf. Finishing runner-up in a Major after finishing third two weeks ago shows my game is in a great place,” said Henderson.<\/p>\n

“It was exciting to reach the playoff. I wish I had played it a little better, but Haeran is playing incredible golf and fully deserves the victory. I\u2019m leaving with plenty of confidence ahead of the AIG Women\u2019s Open.”<\/p>\n

Aki Iwai completes the podium<\/h3>\n

Japan\u2019s Aki Iwai<\/strong> finished third on her own after a final-round 69 (-2) featuring five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m very happy because I had the chance to play in front of so many spectators. I want more people to get to know my golf, and this week has given me a lot of confidence heading into the AIG Women\u2019s Open,” she said.<\/p>\n

Fellow Japanese players Miyu Yamashita<\/strong> and Mao Saigo<\/strong> shared fourth place alongside Korea\u2019s Jin Hee Im<\/strong>, while Anna Nordqvist<\/strong> and Lydia Ko<\/strong> finished tied for seventh at 13-under-par.<\/p>\n

American Auston Kim<\/strong> finished ninth, with Maja Stark<\/strong>, Jeeno Thitikul<\/strong>, Casandra Alexander<\/strong> and Somi Lee<\/strong>completing the top 10.<\/p>\n

Casandra Alexander extends her Ladies European Tour lead<\/h3>\n

Following the Amundi Evian Championship, South Africa\u2019s Casandra Alexander<\/strong> remains at the top of the Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit<\/strong> <\/a>with 1,895.78 points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The LET now takes a one-week break before returning with the ISPS HANDA Women\u2019s Scottish Open<\/strong>, which will be played from 23\u201326 July<\/strong> at Dundonald Links<\/strong>, one of the key events on the calendar ahead of the season\u2019s final Major.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
