Ten professionals from across the Indian golf industry have joined the inaugural programme, supported by the DP World India Championship Legacy Fund to promote female leadership and drive the long-term growth of golf in the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The R&A<\/strong> <\/a>has launched its Women in Golf Leadership Foundation Programme<\/strong> in India for the first time, marking a significant step in its commitment to developing female leadership and creating a more inclusive and sustainable golf industry. The initiative is supported by the DP World India Championship Legacy Fund, established to create a lasting legacy for golf across the country.<\/p>\n

Ten women representing different areas of the Indian golf industry have been selected for the inaugural cohort. The programme is designed to strengthen leadership skills, expand professional networks and support career progression within the sport.<\/p>\n

The participants recently attended an in-person workshop in New Delhi, delivered by leadership development specialists and facilitated by The R&A. The session marks the beginning of a development journey that will continue over the coming months before concluding at the DP World India Championship in October.<\/p>\n

The programme’s expansion into India has been made possible through the DP World India Championship Legacy Fund, an initiative created to ensure the tournament leaves a meaningful impact beyond championship week. The Fund supports projects that increase participation, develop talent and create new opportunities throughout the Indian golf industry.<\/p>\n

The R&A continues its commitment to a more inclusive game<\/h2>\n

Jackie Davidson, Director \u2013 Golf Education at The R&A, highlighted the importance of the initiative as part of the organisation’s long-term strategy.<\/p>\n

“Opening golf to the world is one of the core pillars of The R&A’s strategy. Thanks to the support of the DP World India Championship Legacy Fund, we are delighted to launch the Women in Golf Leadership Programme in India for the first time and invest in the talented women who will help shape the future of golf.”<\/p>\n

She also emphasised India’s enormous potential for the sport.<\/p>\n

“India represents an exciting opportunity for golf. Supporting more women to develop leadership skills and progress in their careers will help build a stronger, more diverse and inclusive golf industry.”<\/p>\n

DP World Tour strengthens its commitment to golf in India<\/h2>\n

Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament & Operations Officer at the DP World Tour, said the initiative reflects the Tour’s long-standing commitment to developing golf in the countries where it stages events.<\/p>\n

“We have been committed to growing golf in India for many years and are proud to support the Women in Golf Leadership Programme through the DP World India Championship. Working alongside The R&A allows us to create meaningful opportunities and help make golf more accessible and inclusive.”<\/p>\n

Developing leadership and creating new opportunities<\/h2>\n

Since its launch in 2019, the Women in Golf Leadership Foundation Programme has helped women across the golf industry build confidence, strengthen leadership capabilities and expand professional networks, supporting their progression into senior roles.<\/p>\n

The inaugural Indian cohort brings together professionals from golf clubs, national governing bodies, sports organisations, academies and professional tours, reflecting the country’s growing ambition for the sport.<\/p>\n

Over the coming months, participants will take part in workshops, mentoring, coaching and peer learning focused on leadership, communication, personal development, team management and career progression.<\/p>\n

Inspiring the next generation of women in golf<\/h2>\n

Swati Dodeja, founder of BirdiesConnect and one of the programme participants, said:<\/p>\n

“It is a privilege to be part of this group of women leaders. This programme brings world-class knowledge to India and will help create more opportunities for women and girls to grow within the game.”<\/p>\n

Jagmeet Kaur Dhody, from The Golf Revolution, added:<\/p>\n

“I want to help create more mentors and fewer barriers. If we can encourage more girls to play golf, lead projects and have their voices heard, women’s golf in India will grow faster and become stronger across communities.”<\/p>\n

The Women in Golf Leadership Foundation Programme forms part of The R&A’s wider strategy to make golf more open, inclusive and representative of the communities it serves.<\/p>\n
