// What was it like to host an event of this magnitude on your course?

Hosting the 2023 Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin  has  been  an  extraordinary achievement that underlines our dedication to excellence. Since our inception, we have worked tirelessly to create a resort that not only offers world-class facilities, but also an unrivalled experience for our guests. To see our course shine at an event of this magnitude was the culmination of years of effort and a validation of our original vision to be a benchmark in the world of luxury golf, and to create a legacy by hosting some of the best golf tournaments in the world.

It was many years of working with a great team of professionals, was it difficult to be in charge of so many people and not neglect any detail?

Leading a project of this magnitude requires a total commitment to excellence, something we have instilled from the very first days at Finca Cortesin. Our success lies in the incredible team we have assembled, people who share our vision and are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards. Every detail was carefully planned and executed, and the key to managing an event of this scale was always collaboration and shared pride in what we do.

What was the best thing about the Solheim, the result or the appearance of the King?

Every aspect of the Solheim Cup was memorable, but what was most gratifying was to see how Finca Cortesin became a global meeting point for women’s golf, where we felt the energy and passion that both players and spectators brought to our resort. The result was exciting and the appearance of His Majesty King Felipe VI was a great honour, underlining the importance of this event for Spain and for world golf.

How was it living with the two teams?

Living with the teams from Europe and the United States was an inspiring experience. Seeing their professionalism and competitive spirit up close was something that all of us at Finca Cortesin deeply value.

One year on: How has the world’s perception of Finca Cortesín changed? The Solheim Cup has elevated Finca Cortesin’s reputation globally, consolidating our position as a world-renowned luxury golf destination. We have seen a remarkable increase in interest from international players and tourists. This not only reflects the quality of our facilities, but also our continued dedication to providing a unique and high standard experience.

The number of American tourists on the Costa del Sol has increased considerably this year: Do you think the Solheim has anything to do with that?

The Solheim Cup has played a key role in attracting more American tourists to the Costa del Sol. The international visibility that an event of this magnitude offers not only puts Finca Cortesin on the map, but also highlights the Costa del Sol as an ideal destination for golf and luxury tourism. We are convinced that this is just the beginning of a sustained increase in international tourist interest in the region.

What other actions are you taking to perpetuate this legacy?

To continue the legacy of the Solheim Cup, Finca Cortesin remains committed to promoting women’s golf and sustainability. In addition to hosting high-level events, we are investing in programmes that encourage women’s participation in golf and continue to support emerging players such as Ana Pelaez and Nuria Iturrioz. Our aim is for Finca Cortesin to continue to be a benchmark in golf, and in sustainability.

You are still involved in women’s golf, sponsoring players such as Ana Peláez and Nuria Iturrioz. Any other notable actions in this regard?

As you say, we are currently supporting women’s golf by sponsoring players such as Ana Pelaez and Nuria Iturrioz. We are always looking for new ways to contribute to the development of women’s golf and we continue to explore opportunities to encourage its growth.

 You have also signed with 54 as a promotional strategy. What is the objective?

The partnership with 54 reflects our commitment to position Finca Cortesin as a luxury golf destination in key international markets. Through this collaboration, we seek to highlight our exclusive facilities and experiences, connecting with an audience that values excellence. This allows us to strengthen our brand and attract a segment of tourists and players who seek the best in hospitality and golf.

Are you planning to organise other prestigious tournaments in the future, such as the Aramco Team Series or other LET tournaments?

We are always open to new opportunities to host high-level tournaments, such as the ones you mention. Our experience and facilities allow us to be ready to host prestigious competitions, which reinforces our commitment to golf, but our current focus is not on attracting new tournaments, but on maintaining the legacy we are building now with the Solheim Cup and continuing to position our resort globally.
