Rated amongst the best in Spain, the championship course at Finca Cortesin is one of the longest layouts in Europe, measuring approx. 7,500 yards. Designed by world- renowned golf course architect, Cabell Robinson, to have ‘no hole less than championship quality’, the Course features a number of large, undulating greens, wide fairways, and over 100 bunkers strategically placed throughout its layout.

Key hales include the 3rd, a magnificent par five that features an approach over water, the 10th, a downhi/1 par three with incredible views of the nearby Mountains, and the 11th, a long par five that provides a great test far al! players.

Finca  Cortesin is celebrating  the prestigious honour of being chosen to host the 2023 Solheim Cup – the first time that Spain has staged the match between Europe and the United States. Spain will become the sixth different European nation to stage the biggest team competition in women ‘s golf when the event heads to the Costa del Sol from 18th – 24th September 2023.

Led by Head Greenkeeper, Ignacio Soto, the maintenance team has been hard-at­ work improving the overall conditioning of the award-winning Championship course to heighten the playing experience ahead of the event. Severa! key areas such as bunkers, tee boxes and fairways have been reinstated to improve consistency, texture and p/ayability across the course.

Specific upgrades include the renovation and re-levelling of al! tee boxes, a ful! course landscape programme, the cleaning and refilling of the lake on the 3rd hale, and the application of the Bil!y Better Bunker methodology in over thirty sand traps.

Sustaínabílíty ís a vital part of everyday lífe at Finca Cortesín. Consídered to be one of the most envíronmentally-fríendly golfíng destínatíons ín Europe, the resort recent!y became the fírst golf course ín Spaín to receíve ACOSOL’s sea/ of qua/íty for recyc/ed water.

The Course uses 100% regenerated water from the nearby víllage of Maní/va to maíntaín íts hígh standards, whílst ín 2017 al/ of the greens were converted to a Bermuda warm season grass, the fírst venue ín Spaín to do so, helpíng to decrease water consumptíon by30%.

The resort has a/so created íts own bee co/oníes, wíth honey produced onsíte and used across a varíety of díshes by world­ class chefs ín the hotel’s three íncredíble restaurants.

Opening up the game of golf has always been a key focus far Finca Cortesin. Creating a lasting legacy far women’s golf is a goal that is elose to the entire teams heart. Following the announcement that the resort would host the 2023 Solheim Cup, the resort has strived to improve golf’s accessibility to women at all levels.

To commemorate six months to go until the start of the Solheim Cup, Finca Cortesin announced rising Spanish Ladies European Tour Professional Ana Pelaez Trivino as a new ambassador at the resort. Alongside fellow ambassadors Nuria lturrioz and Noemi Jimenez Martín, the LET start will help to showcase the resort’s support far the women’s game, as well as highlight its position as one of the world’s best lifestyle and leisure destinations.

Pelaez is one of Spain’s most prominent talents and is eyeing up a place on Suzann Pettersen’s team far the Solheim Cup after an impressive start to the 2023 season.
