Blackmoor and Hindhead Golf Clubs join forces to create a new high-level women’s amateur tournament in southern England

England, 17 August 2026. Two of southern England’s most respected heathland golf clubs, Blackmoor Golf Club and Hindhead Golf Club, have announced the launch of The Heathland Vase, a new elite women’s amateur championship that will make its debut on 7–8 August 2027.

The new event has been created to address a gap in the elite women’s amateur golf calendar and provide a high-quality competitive opportunity during the summer holiday period, when many leading young players are available to compete.

54 holes across two prestigious heathland courses

The Heathland Vase will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play, with the competition split between the two host venues. Players will complete 36 holes at Blackmoor Golf Club on Saturday 7 August, followed by a final 18 holes at Hindhead Golf Club on Sunday 8 August.

The organisers intend to apply for World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status and are working with both clubs and the relevant golf organisations to establish The Heathland Vase as an important fixture on the women’s amateur calendar.

“We are excited to launch The Heathland Vase and create an event that showcases two outstanding heathland golf courses while providing a new competitive opportunity for elite female golfers,” said Alison West, Chair of the Joint Tournament Committee and Ladies’ Captain at Blackmoor Golf Club.

Lorraine Tuffin, Ladies’ Vice-Captain at Hindhead Golf Club, added that the partnership between the two clubs represents a unique opportunity to create something special for women’s amateur golf.

Entries open in January 2027

Entries for the 2027 Heathland Vase Women’s Elite Open will open in January 2027. Players interested in competing can register their interest in advance to receive updates ahead of the entry process.

The championship will be open to elite women amateur golfers with a maximum handicap of 7.
