Silvia Santos – Meaztegi Golf

I am very proud of being a Solheim 2023 ambassador both personally and for the sport. I have a passion for this sport and I’m glad of having the opportunity of making women’s golf more visible, promoting it, enticing the players, men and women, especially boys and girls to practice, compete and to have a reference in those professional players and in the Solheim Cup. We are going to be able to enjoy close up the most important women’s sport event in the world, it will be on our doorstep for the first time in history, in the Costa del Sol. I think I can contribute with my enthusiasm for the project and work hard during this time to make this great event of women’s golf be known amongst as many players as possible and, why not, amongst people who don’t play. Golf is a sport that provides many benefits to a healthy life and that nowadays is booming in our country. We have to cheer the European team and it is a wonderful opportunity for many golf followers to go during those days to Andalucia to support our players.

Asun Ugalde – Basozabal

It is an honour and a privilege for me to be a Solheim Cup ambassador. Not only individually but also as part of a group, of a team, in this case the ambassadors team. Because that feeling of belonging to a team is what makes so grand and special the SOLHEIM CUP!!! I want to contribute so that everyone that plays golf around my area gets to know what the Solheim Cup is.
I’ll try to show how extraordinary it is that Spain holds it and how all the territories can participate in it, so that people who are not living in the south see it not just as an exclusive event from Andalucia, from the Costa del Sol. #vamosgirls

Matxalen Alfaro – Rioja Alta Golf Club

It is a great honour to be able to represent my club – Rioja Alta Golf Club – as a Solheim Cup 2023 ambassador. It is exciting to be part of this cast of women golfers that scattered across Spain will endeavour to make this competition known to the largest amount of people possible, golf players or public in general, inside and outside of our clubs. During these two years ahead of us, until the celebration of the Solheim Cup 2023 in Finca Cortesin, Málaga, we will realize many activities in our clubs with the objective of supporting women’s golf and make this competition known. We can be satisfied if our efforts help to infuse some of our enthusiasm for this sport into our colleagues and into people in general. It is important to keep on supporting this sport because Spain has wonderful golf courses, some of which have held and still do hold great annual events, the weather is amazing throughout the year to be able to play all the year around and enjoy this sport and it has a touristic industry around golf that brings an increasing number of national and international players every year.

Belen Arsuaga – Real Sociedad de Golf of Neguri

Being where I am now, involved in this incredible Solheim shindig and taking into account that I started playing golf just 11 or 12 years ago, makes me realize the great interest and passion that this sport generates. It was unbelievable for me thinking that something or someone was going to make me jump happily from my bed at 6:30 in the morning, with the joy and enthusiasm of a girl for an excursion day at the school. And I have done it. I have never been so interested in anything.

Furthermore, living here in Bilbao, with so many rainy and windy days… with the course wet, the ball that doesn’t fly or roll over… it doesn’t matter. I am eagerly anticipating the lists of the Winter Tournament to be open and run to get enrolled. And I’m not even from Bilbao!!!

All that happiness, interest and spirit that the golf has given me is precisely what I think that I can contribute to the Solheim Cup. I want to transmit my passion for this sport to everybody around me. Obviously, even more to all the members of the Real Sociedad of Golf of Neguri, the club that I am a member of and that I represent on this adventure and to which I thank for this opportunity. In this club there are many members connected to the Costa del Sol and its golf courses.

I am very honoured and proud of being an ambassador of a club such as this one, a centennial club, with rooted traditions and with so many good players, men and women, whose names are written in the history of Spanish golf. Just as I am for being part of this incredible group of ambassadors that step by step are getting to know each other and spreading our enthusiasm for a sport like this and in particular for women’s golf and for the Solheim Cup. It is a privilege and I feel lucky to be part of all this. Thanks Alicia!! #VAMOSGIRLS!!

Rosa López Moreno- Sojuela Golf Course

First of all, I would like to highlight and thank my club for having chosen me to be one of the ambassadors of this great event called SOLHEIM CUP.

The objective of this selection is to make known and transmit what it means to bring this worldwide tournament here, because it positions Spain at the front of women’s golf. I’ll do everything I can to convey to our members this grand event so that they can enjoy it. As a great follower of this sport, for me practising means a personal challenge and an achievement in terms of controlling my emotions due the high doses of temperance and concentration that it requires.

Furthermore, I would like to highlight the good moments I enjoy in the best company. From La Rioja, a land of great wines, landscapes, cultural heritage and golf courses, we support the Andalusian community for hosting the first Solheim Cup in the history of Spain.

From here, we join them and we are wishing to contribute to this event so that it leaves an unforgettable print on Spanish golf.
