For those not familiar with this term, the saboteur is that inner voice that we all have within us that always makes an appearance when we are going to do something different.

Our mind sabotages everything that it considers to be a danger, a threat or a
risk; hence, in those moments that inner voice never stops repeating phrases like
“you don’t know how to do it”, you can’t do it”, “you aren’t able to”, “start
tomorrow”, “others can, but not you”. Our saboteur’s mission is to keep us
within our comfort zone because our brain loves the things it knows and is
used to and doesn’t like us to take risks or to put ourselves in uncomfortable
situations. Sometimes we don’t realise that we are sabotaging ourselves; for example, we
may be the victims of self-sabotage without even realising if we are settling for less than we really want or if we find that the path to achieving our goal is blocked.

To stop our inner saboteur there are a series of steps:
1. Detect it by asking ourselves the following questions:

What is your saboteur saying?
In which moments does it appear in your life?
What are its skills?
What does it fear from you?
What do you imagine it looks like and what name would you give it?
How has your life benefited from your saboteur?

2. Imagine what our lives would be like without your saboteur and how we would feel.

3. Take control of our life, set goals and take action because taking our own action is the only way to keep minimizing the presence of our saboteur, which will appear less and become less powerful.
