The Range Marbella & Ladies in Golf held their first ProAm. Thirty amateur players had the opportunity of playing alongside ten professional players from the Ladies European Tour. Laura Gómez Ruiz, Natasha Fear, María Parra, Fátima González Carriles, Piti Martínez Bernal, Noemi Jiménez, Paz Marfá, Harang Lee, Mireia Paz y Teresa Toscano were the players who led the ten teams that participated in the tournament held at the Golf Club Santa Clara. The ProAm begun the previous day at the Range with a golf exhibition. The Pro-Am raised a total of €1650 for the benefit of AVOI (Association of Children’s Oncology Volunteers).

Dawn had only broken when the first players arrived to the Golf Club Santa Clara. There, after the coffee and croissant, the driving range was ready for them to warm up their muscles and practice their swing. At half past nine sharp, the shot was fired that marked the beginning of a very special round for some, who were playing for the first time with a professional. With the formula “Par is your friend”, the teams were scoring birdies and some eagles on their team card.

After the first holes, the players made their stop to regain strength at the tent placed next to the hole one and ten, where some sliced fruit, juices and soft drinks, sweet and savoury pastry and cava awaited them. Many teams also took the opportunity to count points and decide the strategy for the following holes.

After the round, the players enjoyed a delicious lunch at the restaurant Kayena, which was attended also by Lisandro Vieytes, Deputy Councillor for Sports; Maria Gutierrez Mansilla and Jose A. Guerrero, representing the Hotel Occidental Puerto Banús – Barceló, sponsor of the Pro-Am and Carlos Santos. Director of the Golf Club Santa Clara.

The members of the three best classified teams captained by Laura Gómez Ruiz, Paz Marfá and Harang Lee collected the award. The auction, masterfully carried out by Carlos Santos, followed. The items auctioned were an IB Putter donated by Ivan Ballesteros, a wedge, a monthly pass for the Santa Clara Golf, greenfees donated by Golf Atalaya and an endless number of gifts that made the collection ascend up to €1650, which was donated to AVOI (Association of Children’s Oncology Volunteers).

At the end of the party, the amateurs as well as the professionals were very satisfied with the experience: “This has been the first, but not the last of the ProAm that we’ll hold. It has been an absolute success because everyone has told me that they want to repeat and many others have been left out, so surely next year we’ll be many more”, assured Michel Meeus, owner of The Range Marbella.
